Hi, I’m Shayla Sanford, a mental health therapist based in Omaha, Nebraska. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. After spending 20 years in Colorado, I’m happy to be back where I feel most at home.
Since Fall 2023, I’ve been working full-time as a therapist, serving clients ages 3 and up. I’m passionate about helping individuals grow, heal, and gain insight into themselves. It’s a privilege to witness the positive changes that come from self-awareness and resilience.
My approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), depending on each client’s unique needs.
Outside of work, I enjoy time with family, reading, exercising, and self-care. I’m also a proud mom of two kids, two dogs, and one very quirky axolotl!
As a therapist, what truly fulfills me is having the privilege of working with individuals who are on their journey towards personal growth and/or healing, witnessing the transformation of power of insight and self-awareness as they overcome challenges. It is deeply rewarding to see people gain a better understanding of themselves and live more fulfilling lives. I am committed to fostering a collaborative and empathetic therapeutic relationship with every client I work with, helping them lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, compassion, and non-judgment. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where our clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts and feelings, and where they can develop the skills and tools they need to thrive.
I take a compassionate, client-centered approach, recognizing the unique experiences and strengths each individual brings to therapy. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life's challenges and reach their fullest potential. I have a background in specific fields of psychology such as DBT, CBT, TF-CBT, Biofeedback, PCIT, & Circle of Security.
